The cacao from Satipo is grown organically in the Satipo area of the central Amazonian region of Peru.
These beans are a Criollo Amazonico (Heirloom) variety. The Heirloom cacao has been growing in the area since immemorial times. It belongs to the Criollo lineage, the finest of the fine cacao strains.
This cacao is produced by the indigenous people of the Junin region. Such native community is called “Asháninka” which means "our fellows" or "our kin-folk."For their survival, this community depends on the vitality of the ecosystems of such dense forest .
